Niororo Sandbank

Niororo Island and Sandbank are located adjacent to each other between the mainland and Mafia Island. The island is inhabited by a large group of families, forming a small village. The sandbank is always deserted and surrounded by beautiful coral, perfect for snorkeling.

Barakuni Island

Barakuni Island is a beautiful, natural reserve island located near Mafia Island, on the coast of East Africa. It is not a popular tourist destination, known primarily for its picturesque landscapes, turquoise waters and white beaches

 

Bwejuu Island

Bwejuu Island is a narrow but long islet located in the Mafia Island Marine Park Reserve. It has a very traditional small village and a beautiful beach all around.

 

Mange Sandbank

Mange Sandbank is a small lagoon located near Kilindoni, the capital of Mafia Island. The beautiful color of the water and sand creates the feeling of being in paradise.

 

Whale Sharks Spot

Whale sharks are the largest fish in the world. There are few places in the world where you can spot them. Mafia is famous for snorkeling with them. This activity is at the top of our list of things to do during this cruise.

 

Bwejuu Reef

Very close to Bwejuu Island, our spot for incredible snorkeling with a lush coral reef. Part of the Marine Park, a reserve around Mafia Island, you can find many rare species of fish and other ocean creatures here.

 

Chole Island

A vast bay on the eastern side of Mafia Island, part of the Marine Park, boasts incredible coral reefs perfect for diving and snorkeling. It’s part of the local history of this area and Chole Island. Many plant and animal species unique to this region can be found there.

 

Coral Garden

The Chole Coral Garden boasts fantastic, vibrant reefs, teeming with color and abundance, and a multitude of fish of all shapes, colors, and sizes. The waters surrounding Mafia Island offer extraordinary marine diversity, with over 400 species of fish, 5 species of sea turtles, and 48 species of coral. You can even find seahorses here.

Flying Fox

This genus of megabats is among the largest bats in the world. They are commonly known as fruit bats or flying foxes, among other names. They live in East Africa. The genus includes at least 60 species. They inhabit Chole Bay, so after sunset, they can be seen flying off to their feeding grounds.
